Ask any manager and they will tell you that one of the biggest challenges they face is keeping their employees motivated. From showing up late to doing subpar work, every manager is always seeking some form of edge to get the best from their staff.
But when it comes down to what works, many still wonder whether intrinsic or extrinsic motivational factors are the best approach. Every company tries to create their own culture in which they find different strategies to bring out the best in people. Yet why are so many companies still struggling with this issue? "This goes back to the basic notion of trust. Companies trust their employees and productivity goes up" says Alex Miller, editor at Motivation Ping. "I don't think money is a bad motivator because at minimal, it serves as supplemental. I think when you offer big reward you also up the nervousness and pressure for success. And because of that it's hard to say that big reward results in poorer performance. I don't fully agree with everything that has been said but I do favor the ideal of intrinsic motivation." This concept also relates to school and the education system. You do well on a test or you need to do homework to get a good grade, but what the education system should do instead is to tell the kids that learning is for you. That you don't just come to school because you need to, do so because you want to. You want to master your learning, not waste 20 plus years on something you don't even think is important. With the assumption of workers who want to work for the sake of other than capitalism. A question that arises is, how does one engineer such workers, who would work for a sake other than capital. How do you incentivize without the American dream? Autonomy, mastery and purpose are three main elements of the new operating system for our businesses, it's right. If we treat our job as a thing that brings us salary every month, we fail. Passion is always the important factor that lead to success. When I have a task to accomplish but with a free schedule I'm the most productive and focused, but when I know I have to wake up or be somewhere at a certain time for a certain amount of hours it immediately makes me less motivated and actually try to find a way to get away from it, counting the seconds until I can leave even though I have nothing better to do afterwards. Maybe that's a personal flaw but I definitely see where he is coming from, if the economy followed some degree of this I bet people would be happier and more productive. Of course some people would take advantage, but people already do that in different ways.

If you truly want happiness and success, then you are going to need to work for it. Making your dreams a reality is not just going to fall into your lap. It’s going to require self discipline and hard work.
When people ask me what does a life coach do, I make it clear that their job is to help guide you along this process of developing a better life for yourself. I recently had a client who was having some issues on this and they wrote me an interesting email about it and here is what they said: This is great if you use it to develop yourself, but look around at the world and see the dark forces controlling the things around us, our leaders are destroying peace and harmony, I know they say to change yourself is the only way, but there is no way the globalists and powers that be are going to change. I will continue to try and develop myself but I worry for the children of this earths future as the world is controlled by greedy evil sick degenerates and to that I'm afraid there is no answer. There's more to the equation in life than just simply wanting to do something or be good at something, you need to drop the notion of dreams, riches and power because that's just an age old scam of promising a better life and riches, all there is, is what we can do and what we are good at and we're all good at a few things but you also have to be realistic in our society because it's a far stretch for a lot of things to be an entrepreneur or famous or in a big top of the pyramid job and it also takes the right personality to be that, you need to be good at communication for a start but a lot of people aren't normally too good at that so not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur or famous or some big boss at the top lol and that’s okay it's not just simply "self-discipline" and there are genetic factors too depending the way we're built that is another factor towards what we can and can’t do. We can take our own learning into our own hands and honestly I recommend you do because of how broken our society is these days. How broken the education system is because of the pursuit of money and power and now everyone's realized how much we've been scammed out of our lives, our time, our energy, our education, our money they've wasted a lot of our time, employers no longer take seriously Degrees, College experience or what you did at school because the content and experience is unrealistic to a real life job in the real world we don't spend all day in a job just ticking off boxes on a worksheet or doing some exam lol, but what you can do takes time to practice and master and you must take that time do it never mind about restrictive time schedules that we've been subjected to through out school. Yes, it does take a certain amount of self-discipline too but you don't need to go all crazy on it like this lecture is putting across. Our learning needs to be enjoyable and make you enthusiastic about it too and life is a journey of learning not a 1 - 5 year process and then it's over with. That's the system talking of having you just memorize things rather than giving us quality content to learn and a quality way of learning to make us enjoy learning and feel good about it, to help out Long-term memory remember it, forget all that and all the ideals you've had drummed down you because we all learn and understand things at a different pace and perceive things differently but one thing that's not different is that we learn from practice time and repetition but don't try to flood yourself with too many subjects or concepts just 1 bit at a time baby steps, 1 concept at a time so you can focus on what you're doing or you'll just end up frustrating yourself like you were in school doing several subjects and concepts in 1 day. But you just don't need to be an entrepreneur or famous or rich when it won't make you happy and secure within yourself when it's not something you can handle, it's all about being realistic about what we can do as individuals and be able to handle, forget about the ideal of "Dreams" and do something because you can do it and want to do it. If we're to achieve anything though the world also needs to improve around us because it just puts us all into hard circumstances and makes learning anything harder for us society needs to also give us the tools we need to be able to Master the things we're good at we can't just simply do all of that ourselves when the tools aren't available, now in The Technology Age we’ve got all this information but things are still made difficult for us because of the corrupt society we live in there are societal factors that impact us in many ways so if we all hope to improve the quality of life for all then the world needs to change as a whole. If we're secure and happy then there wouldn't be any need for conflict in our world when we will also be happy for each other. Self awareness is about knowing yourself. Not the ego, but the stillness. The quiet mind will center you and when you are connected to that, you connect to the whole. We are not separate. The have and have nots. It is a very old ancient lack mentality and victim consciousness that is waiting to be rewritten. And it is. Are there starving people in the world? Yes. Are we not supposed to feel it? No. We feel it. And we have compassion. This creates a cycle of change. Start with yourself and realize materialism and gain are not the cornerstones to life. Abundance is an inside job and everything else will follow. You’re the captains of your own ships so make sure you steer it the way you want and create the life you truly deserve. What many people do not understand about online life coaching is that one of our main objectives is to help our clients become more self disciplined. Without it, it is nearly impossible to help people accomplish their goals. I truly believe that to experience success in life, you must be willing to cultivate a level of self discipline that will help you become more stable.
Firstly is the lesson of discipline; it makes or breaks a leader. When I first came to West Point, I had a shallow child’s understanding of discipline, yet as we had to work together, listen to nonsensical orders, and memorize seemingly useless facts I began to have a better grasp on the definition of discipline. Discipline-the ability to ignore one’s own desire in replace of what is needed. There are many types but I believe there were two main ones taught: physical and moral discipline. Physical discipline is the simple concept of pushing forward; actually listening to the brief instead of zoning out, dying internally at the CFA, or standing at formation while Sgt. Lynch eyeballs our poor squad form. So basically, physical discipline consists of not being a little bitch and doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done. This applies to the small and large, giving everything the attention and work it deserves. For example, note taking at briefs are just as important as cleaning your room because attention to detail even when you don’t want to is what stops tiny little mistakes in combat that get people killed. Then there’s moral discipline; having the tenacity to hold an objective take on wrong and right. We see in this in the cadet honor code, a list of do-nots. Then there’s the less obvious-the peer accountability; not cheating during class or peek ahead at LRC, an unwritten culture evident in even the rogue Sgt. Neville. Simply put, moral discipline Is holding yourself to a degree not subjective those around you. Sorta like a buoy in the ocean, when you remain steadfast in your thoughts and actions, you become an anchor to those around you. If a leader (or anyone for that matter) is not morally steadfast, he cannot inspire trust in those around him/her. I think we all know someone who is so moral (not prudish), that we cannot but help to be drawn toward them. I’ll go into more detail of how we achieve this but I’ll leave this at a mere definition for now. I’ve said all these types of disciplines are important but I’ve never really elaborated upon why they relate to the life of an army officer. As an army officer, you are responsible for serving as a moral compass to those around you and thus you yourself need to be morally stable. When you’re in a combat zone, your men will look to you for guidance and if you don’t practice discipline daily, how can you expect to on the battlefield. Secondly, as an officer, you’ll have to make decision with real consequences and therefore need an excellent understanding of right and wrong when you’re in those morally gray areas. This is why having a life coach is crucial because they can help you develop these skills. Some of the things being said here are false or at the very least inaccurate because they are predicated on the assumption that there is one monolithic definition of the idea of "Success" and that anything worth pursuing necessarily requires ambition. Presuppositions like "the world is against you" are based on what? Why would the world be against you and by who's criteria to we determine this? Who's dreams are we chasing anyway and who is to say that it all has to be painful and arduous or only be of value if you are the best at it? Furthermore not everything you might enjoy doing necessarily is expressed in areas that are competitive. Just a rehash of the usual feel-good "I made it because I tried harder than you" motivational clichés. Furthermore let us not forget the great intangible known as "Good Luck" without which not much can happen even if you are loaded with talent and perseverance. Why the hell does he say do not feel your feelings? I personally have been through a shit ton of battles in life and well of course in my mind.Yet to me it feels like when I ignore my feelings and not dissect them in hopes to understand my bodies automatic system it destroys me more then anything else in this world. Now I won't lie technically I just found this out and I almost killed myself due to the fact of me not listening to what it was saying. Not that it isn't lying. Yes it can be very well lying but if I don't see that lie for what it is I feel more destructive towards my thoughts. For example: The body has like these weird ways of protecting you and if your not accepted or the wrong word is said and make a you feel crappy at a young age it will set it to your default system and you will act according to how your body takes it the next time around. I guess my question is am I actually doing it wrong because feels right but also I am new to this. Been through so much lies the I can't determine the truth. Let's just say my family wasn't to kind towards my entire being. I'm not sure that conforming to society's ideals, brings any form of happiness whatsoever. Acceptance of one's self and of one's insignificance bring a far greater sense of contentment, than forever striving to meet the very shallow, often money driven achievement milestones perpetrated by the media. Every day I wake up because I know thats another day I could make myself better, to change something, to change someone. When i think that I’m not good enough, i just tell to myself” You're special, theres no one like you. You’re happy, because you have a home to sleep in. You have food to eat, water to drink, everything you need, that somebody else may not have. That's why you need to help to give not just to receive. The problem is if you are a thinking person it doesn't take long until you experience fully how different ideals and different ideas you have come across (automatic thoughts and "active" thoughts) are creating the contradictions that is actually your being, which pulls you away from the "sky is the limit" altruism you see here. The ones who made this clip might actually know there's so much more to say about this (but it's just so much credibility in staying beside the ones proclaiming the king has the most beautiful clothes ever seen. Read Jordan Peterson for a more complex analysis on the subject matter. The first thing you need to do (to achieve your goals) is to understand yourself; to know everything about yourself, and admit to things that are hidden by your self conscious mind. After that, you need to accept your past life and move forward working with what you were left with.
Self discipline usually comes out of necessity. Those that find something worth the want have found purpose. That purpose drives self discipline. Finding what makes it happen is the key. This video makes sound easy. Seize the first hour of the day....doing what? Be disciplined...doing what or not doing what? Nothing but pandering to those that feel guilty, depressed or lost. It’s easier to departmentalize, specialize and plugin to a group. It’s easy to feel ungratified as a spoke in a wheel. These images of individualized goals is apart of a whole other issue. I'm not interested in being a star and I am very happy with that. And although I think Will Smith is probably a very decent guy, artistically I do not care what he is making. I am not interested in a career that way and I think it's wrong, to "engineer this vibe" that it is very important to be successful this way. Just be happy and do whatever you want and accept the consequences. I spent time on my music when I want to and although there may be some discipline on occasions, it is all about having fun. And only measured by my own artistic curiosity. I don't find it right to say "put your Emotion to the side and just discipline yourself". Many people suffer from problems or complexes they have. When you try to just move on ignoring your emotional problems you will fail too. You especially need to solve these as early as you can before they can manifest deeper and deeper in your mind. Sure you need some discipline to solve your emotional problems, but that's completely left out. Self-discipline is the key to material success. Well, I don't much care for material success. Self-discipline is also the key to spiritual success. See, ultimately, nothing matters except what you do for eternity. Living for this world is meaningless. This world will fade away, your body will fade away, your life will fade away. But, God is eternal and his purpose is eternal. If you are a believer, if you have faith in Jesus Christ, and you live to serve Him, then your life is meaningful. God has a purpose for your life, but it's not easy. Going back to self-discipline, discipline yourself in righteousness. First, receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then, seek to conform your life to His image. Guess what? He was disciplined. He resisted all sinful temptations. He didn't love money, he didn't lust after women, he didn't lie, cheat, steal, or do anything that is abhorrent to God. Yet, we do these things all the time. He fasted. He prayed a great deal. And, he completely gave his own life over to the will of the Father. That's discipline. The vast majority of people do nothing except what pleases them. They indulge themselves in what ever meets their fancy and they pursue everything this world has to offer. They desire a life of self-gratification, ease, and comfort. But, Jesus calls believers to a live of service to God. You must forsake the sinful desires of your heart. It often means you endure tremendous persecution and even execution. But, you will die in God's purpose. And, your life will have been a success. To do otherwise, to live life outside of God's purpose is a life of failure. And, most people are failures. They waste their lives. Am I the only person that sees discipline as an unwelcome form of control? Surely the "message" here only really applies to those whom suffer with deep regret? Its like all those people in pursuit of happiness, believing it's the pinnacle of importance and get disappointed when they have to pretend to find it. Well, in some way you are right at least about the self discipline. But anyway we all are still serving the "system" which enslaves us totally no matter if you work on yourself or not. How many of you are willing to share and cooperate with others without hate and prejudice to someones beliefs? The basic understanding and knowledge of life itself is needed, but those you will never get at any schools or universities in the whole world. You will not buy it with money either. So, to keep seeking for truth and working on yourself to get widened your conscience with knowledge based on truth is the right path. Of course this does not apply for mentally lazy ones feeling enough comfortable in the "system" which is majority from beginning of times... Thus there is the answer why globally humanity doesn’t changed nor will ever change! However we are still responsible to ourselves. If in case you want to become free, then first you need to become a manager of your own life, learn and bear consequences of your own mistakes, secondly to understand that your final choice is up to you no matter of circumstances, and for thirdly to learn to love and to be generous and helpful to others...there is the wisdom of life. This is too focused on self; what we need is a shift of focus here. Self-discipline to achieve goals is nothing, if you don't acknowledge your need for God. For a truth, your right/poor standing with God affects everything. If you have the blessing of God, obtained through obedience—then, you will achieve success at every undertaking. If you have the curse active on your life, which is obtained through disobedience to God—then, in all you do you will find an array of obstacles and frustration. So having right standing with God, should in fact precede self-discipline—which is a mere fraction of what you need for success. And that, my friends, are facts based not only on Scripture, but on the living, active word of God. Don't say no one told you so; peace.
CONFIRMING_VERSE: "Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day, and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which you have not known." --[Deuteronomy 11, verses 26-28]—(NOTE—these are God's own words to the prophet Moses, and from Moses to the people). Nothing but platitudes here, all fluff. Self love as it's described here sounds great. But that will only get you so far, and then failure of the worse kind imaginable will become a reality. Will Smith talks about forgoing the immediate and temporary pleasure for the long term good. Well, that is exactly how God wants us to think. Only he demands that instead of putting ourselves first, that we put Him first. All of these people are focused on a temporary materialistic life. And one day they will learn that all their talk about self love and discipline for the wrong reasons was all for naught. I AM proud to say, and most people do not believe me when i state this, that i do not own or have a mobile phone . I do not read newspapers . I do watch the news on tv . I do not watch the Kardashians . I am not on Facebook . I am not on twitter . I am not on Instagram or any of the other brain rotting social media outlets . I do have a tablet . But i use it basically to watch my wildlife documentaries and other documentaries that interest me and to use the Bluetooth device on it for musical purposes . I am 36 years of age and i've been this way since i was 20 . And i just want to say, i feel fucking great and special that i am not a sheep who is sleep walking into a material world of falseness and distraction . I am the 1% . And i'm fucking proud of that. I get quite frustrated about how society believes in so many contradictory ideas. For example, we simultaneously glorify chasing our dreams, and living in the moment. So every time we are working hard towards a goal (or a dream) we feel that we are doing something wrong by not staying in the moment. And every time we are staying in the present, we can feel frustrated about how we are not making progress towards our future goals. It just doesn’t add up. I agree that self-discipline is very important in part of life. One part of many. But it is not a secret, elite formula that only 1% of the world understands. Also, lets just agree that it video assumes that success is the way to “sustained happiness.” And I mean, that’s not really supported by scientific research. I am in general very skeptical towards these short videos with inspirational music, that claim that they can change your life in 5 minutes. They might be a piece to a greater puzzle, but they can never be a solution. Let’s just be critical. That’s all. Each person is a complex of dreams/emotions related to past memories and phantasy about the future/contradicting inner voices telling us what will make us happy. However 'simple' it might seem to choose self discipline over immediate gratification - it's really not. Most of us choose to perpetuate negative emotions resulting from bad choices. And to really know oneself, a good long and healthy relationship should do the trick. Start by visiting a professional psychotherapist is also recommended. |
